A United Methodist Congregation
The Highlands Endowment Fund was established in 1993 by the Charge Conference. Its purpose is to provide Church members and friends the opportunity to make charitable gifts to Highlands that become a permanent endowment of financial support, and a living memorial. A committee of church leaders and members was established to manage this fund in connection with the United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas (UMFA).
At the present time the Endowment/Memorial Committee (EMC) manages three separate funds; the Endowment General Fund, the Endowment Building Fund, and the Memorial Fund. At the present time all these funds are invested with the UMFA and only the interest from the funds are available for Highlands use. The EMC has three primary responsibilities: 1) to manage the funds wisely and prudently; 2) to emphasize the importance of end-of-life financial planning and management; and 3) to communicate the opportunities by various avenues for members, or their representatives, to make provisions for giving assets to Highlands Church, and/or the United Methodist Church. An updated brochure about the Endowment Fund is available in the brochure rack in the foyer.
Compassionate Disciples is a ministry that reaches out to church members and those in the community who are experiencing spiritual, emotional or physical needs due to grief, illness, being home-bound or institutionalized. They bring companionship, comfort, and prayer to those in need through visits, calls, and sending cards.
In 1997, our church established a Columbarium (Memorial Garden) as a new ministry for members. The area, located behind the church, provides a special place for the internment or scattering of ashes of church members and their immediate families. The garden also provides a memorial wall for which church members may purchase a plaque to honor a deceased family member or friend. Niches or memorial plaques may be purchased through the Columbarium (Memorial Garden) Committee.
Our church offers numerous clubs and groups designed for fellowship, as well as community outreach and physical, mental and spiritual wellness.
Our church offers a library with a wonderful collection of books, audio books and movies. New displays are featured each month. The new books are on a table just outside the library door. The fiction and audio book collection is located in the first room. Meanwhile, the second room contains bibles, reference materials, teaching support, Christian fiction and non-fiction. Large print and children's books are available in the nursery. Paperback books are on a carousel. Checkout is not required; please help yourself.

However, for those who have experienced a life-changing event or cannot attend church, disciples are available on the first Sunday of each month to serve in-home-communion in your home or facility where you might reside.
