VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION
Teams went to Joplin, Missouri, September 2011 through January 2012 and will continue the tornado relief efforts through May 2012. Volunteers have assembled sheds, installed siding on a house, taped and sanded drywall, sprayed texture on the walls and built counter tops.
Workers of all skill levels are needed.
Upcoming dates for work are March 6-8, April 10-12 and May 8-10.
Workers will meet at church at 8 AM and return each day by 4 PM
Sign up at the information desk.
We also collect aluminum cans.
Donations may be left in the marked containers in Fellowship Hall
Salvation Army
We rang the bells for the "Army" again this year
Salvation Army Food Basket
The Salvation Army is in need of lots of food.
Non-perishable food items can be placed in the container by the Fellowship Hall entry door.
Each month the Outreach Committee brings the donated food to the Salvation Army.
So far this year we have delivered 713 items on non-perishable food to the Salvation Army.
With so many out of work and homeless in our area, the need for food exists. You can help by picking up one or two items for the Salvation Army next time you go shopping.
PRAYER SQUARES
Can you crochet? We're making prayer squares.
What are Prayer squares? They are small granny squares (2" x 2") that you hold in your hands when you pray.
The squares will go to Joplin and to front line military personnel.
FREE pattern available in the church office.
Adopt-A-Road
We clean up the roads
Twice a year we pick up trash along the roads near our church.
Help us keep Bella Vista beautiful all the time!
Bella Vista Animal Shelter
Our animal friends are in need of cat/dog/kitten food.
The shelter can also use bleach and large garbage bags.
Donations can be brought to the church (Fellowship Hall entry) or dropped off at the animal shelter.
Read-To-Me Program
Volunteers read to students at Gravette Schools (K - 3d grade) from January through April.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
ARNIES ARMY
A GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR PROSTATE CANCER HELD EVERY FALL
Last year... over 30 volunteers from our church helped with the tournament
and more than $19,000 was raised
and 131 men were screened with 7 needing further testing
CHILI
Work with the Lighthouse of Hope Methodist Girl's Home in Coronel, Chile, continues.
It's All About Giving
Our people, and their efforts, make us a strong church. We give much because we care much. Approximately $25,000 was raised through various fund raisers like the Homes Tour and the Cookie Walk. Additional private funding and goods were added by members.
Where is the money go... UMCOR, Golden Cross, Philander Smith College, UM Children's Home, Univ of AR Wesley Foundation, Gravette School Programs, Alzheimer's Assn, Seminary Scholarships, Care & Share Store, NWA Children's Shelter, Biloxi Mission, Youth Bridge, Salvation Army, Camp Aldersgate, Women's Shelter, Operation Gratitude (Iraq), Gravette Family, Angel Tree, Chile Mission, VA Chapel Fund and Buy Me A Book (Gravette Schools).
Perhaps more importantly is the labor donated to help serve our fellowman. Church services at Concordia Nursing Home and Village House, Alzheimer Walkers, Habitat for Humanity Workers, Care & Share Store, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army Kettle, NWA Children's Shelter, Angel Tree, Read To Me School Program, Biloxi Mission Trips, UMW Projects and HUMMER Projects... just to name a few.
