Highlands United Methodist Church
Endowment Fund
The Endowment Fund was established in 1997 as a means to provide for the future of the Highlands United Methodist Church in Bella Vista. All undesignated gifts to the Endowment fund will be used as our policy dictates. The main purpose is to care for our beautiful facilities and to explore new programs and ministries not part of our Church's annual operating budget. The Fund receives permanent gifts from individuals and organizations, but only the earnings are distributed. The donor, therefore, has the assurance that the gifts will be a lasting contribution to the church. FRASE ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The endowment fund was initiated by members of the church in honor and appreciation for the ministries of Tom & Patty Frase.
Tom is an alumnus of the Asbury Theological Seminary.
Our church's Endowment Committee can be of assistance in planning and implementing the transfer of assets through the many legal options now available.
![]() CREATIVE GIVING
What is Creative Giving? If you receive information on a regular basis from a university, brokerage firm or bank, you probably are familiar with charitable trusts or annuities. These instruments can benefit the donor while guaranteeing that the recipient will have long-term use of the funds in the future. Are you a candidate for this creative form of giving? Only you can be the judge. Here are some kinds of assets that could be gifted and trust devices that are available: * Cash * Memorial Gifts
* Stocks * Life Insurance * Bonds * Personal Property * Wills/bequests * Real Estate The Unitrust
The Unitrust is a tax-exempt trust that entitles the donors to bypass capital gains tax and receive life income based upon a fixed percentage times the value of trust assets each year. In addition, the grantor receives an income tax deduction in the year of the gift. This deduction is dependent upon the age or ages of income beneficiaries and, if applicable, the length of a term of years.
Life Estate Reserved
Persons owning a home, farm, or ranch, may choose to live there for life and receive a charitable deduction by giving the remaining interest to a qualified exempt charity. The life tenant continues to pay maintenance, taxes and insurance on the real property, but when he or she passes away, the charity will receive the property.
All funds received are managed for us by THE UNITED METHODIST FOUNDATION OF ARKANSAS. They will also offer assistance free of charge in your planning for a gift to the Endowment Fund. They can be contacted toll free by phone (866) 281-8914 or at their web site www.umfa.org .
